J. Maxwell Norman is a Jewish American documentary and fine art photographer based in the Twin Cities. His practice focuses on lyrical, evocative compositions of ordinary encounters while he looks to undertand shifting perspectives of history, truth, and cultural memory in an increasingly unstable world. Working under strict compositional and technical constraints, he seeks to balance subjective points of view and the more objective elements of the photographic medium.
His work has been published in Woofer Magazine and shown at the Minnesota State Fair Rejects Exhibition at Douglas Flanders & Associates in Minneapolis.
He lives in Minneapolis with his husband, Todd, and their dog, Alfredo.
