J. Maxwell Norman is a Jewish-American documentary and fine art photographer based in Minneapolis. Drawing inspiration from a wide range of stylistic influences, his work focuses on lyrical, evocative compositions of ordinary encounters. He looks to interrogate shifting perspectives of history, truth, and cultural memory in an increasingly unstable world, while trying to understand his own point of view balancing the subjective and objective elements of the photographic medium.
He lives with his husband, Todd, and their dog, Alfredo.
